Kalomoiros Ioannis (John)

Ioannis (John) Kalomiros received the degree of Physics and a Masters degree in Electronics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His first doctoral thesis (1989) is on the characterization of materials for micro-electronic devices. His second PhD thesis (2010) is on vision-based techniques for the localization of autonomous vehicles for real-time robotic applications. He has collaborated with a number of research Institutes, like the Institute fur Angewandte Physik in Karlsruhe, Germany (1988-1989) and the Berliner Elektronenspeicherring-Gesellschaft fur Synchrotronstrahlung m.b.H. in Berlin, Germany (1994-1998). He has co-authored forty publications in International scientific journals and more than forty publications in international or national conference proceedings. His current research interests are in the field of Embedded Systems, Hardware Design and Machine Vision, but he has also published extensively in the field of semiconductors. He has co-authored two books (Tziolas Editions) and has written several tutorial notes. He has attracted more than 950 citations.
He is currently Professor at the International Hellenic University, Serres campus, Greece, Department of Computers, Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering. He teaches Analog and Digital Electronics, Embedded Systems and related subjects. He participates in two Editorial Boards of scientific Journals and in several Advisory Boards for International Conferences. He is the Students’s Advocate and a member of the Steering Committee of the Post-Graduate Program in Robotics. He is the president of the Advisory Board of the Central Library of Serres, in Greece.
